Healthy Grown

Healthy Grown™ is a produce brand. Healthy Grown™ potatoes are different than other premium potatoes because they are grown with fewer high-impact pesticides. These potatoes are “good for you and good for the environment.”

Healthy Grown™ started as a concept in the mid-nineties by a group of potato farmers as a large-scale experiment to reduce pesticides. Healthy Grown™ began through a collaborative effort between the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA), World Wildlife Fund, the University of Wisconsin, and other conservation groups such as The International Crane Foundation and Defenders of Wildlife.

The Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) and the University of Wisconsin agreed to accelerate industry-wide adoption of biologically based crop and soil management practices that would reduce use of toxic pesticides in the growing process, improve soil and water quality, and protect wildlife habitat. The group then developed measurement tools which were adopted by Protected Harvest for certification standards. Protected Harvest is a third-party certifier that oversees and certifies the stringent growing standards under which all Healthy Grown™ potatoes are produced.
